Climate Cycle, a Chicago entity, will launch their first annual bikeathon to fight global warming, with an eye to reducing the carbon footprint our use of ever-expanding home technology may be enlarging.

The press release says:
Climate Cycle offers people from all walks of life an inspiring response to one of the greatest challenges of our time: global warming. On May 9th, 2009, Climate Cycle will launch its inaugural bikeathon, which will raise money to put solar panels on local public schools and support green energy education. This saves both schools' and taxpayers' money by reducing schools' energy costs while lowering their greenhouse gas emissions, the primary cause of global warming.

Most importantly, Climate Cycle prepares children to become leaders in the emerging green economy. Each installation enables hundreds if not thousands of children to learn first hand how their school is working to reduce its carbon footprint and the technology making it possible.

The impact of home and school technologies are closely related in their impact on children's lives. The Climate Cycle event looks to be a wholesome family activity that can benefit homes, schools, the City of Chicago's people and the Earth. Participants can register at Climate Cycle's website.
